I know, I know, it been an age since my last post – sorry readers (or should that be reader?!?!), laid up with a bad back – but you don’t want to hear about that…….
‘tallica rocked in a way that defies description. Absolutely fragin fantastic!!!
Jame, Lars and Kirk rocked and I have new found respect for Robert – no picks and a flawless performance of Orion…Cliff would be pleased, I think!
The support were excellent as well, with the exception of HIM who just looked bored, as if they were going through the motions. Mastodon suffered a bit from being first band on, an it being gloriously sunny, but they still did a fantastic job. Machine Head nearly stole the show for me. Rob Flynn & co were on top form (Rob seemed as excited as the crowd to be in Wembly at a Metallica gig), the short set was a mix of old and new stuff which worked beautifully – Davidian sent shivers down my spine!
The gig was by far the best I have been to and Metallica lived up to all my expectations and then some (they even played No Leaf Clover, which I never thought I’d hear outside of the S&M, which made it extra special).
Another high point was the fact that Tom went to the gig with me, the journey down was excellent chance for us to natter and put the world to rights and it was good to share the experience of the gig with him – here’s to there being more in the future!
That weekend also allowed me to see Jan, Bob and Robin (or should that be Jurgen) – thanks for putting us up you guys – and also to meet Dez’s brother Dale. I must say a huge thanks to Dez for the Metalli-pizza – at 4am after a long drive back it was just what I needed, you’re a star!
Right then that’s the ‘tallica babble done with…….
Machine Head’s new album ‘The Blackening’ is immense – a must hear and one of the best albums I have ever heard, check Halo out if you want to hear impressive. melodic, heavy thrash at it’s best! Machine Head seem like a bunch of genuine guys from what I have read over the years and this album should put them at the top of the metal pecking order where they belong. They’re legends……..
Also big thanks to Yoda for the ride, etc that enabled me to see Die Hard 4 the other day. Fantastic film, nothing cerebral you understand but just a great straight forward action film – Superb!
Right then I’m off, not sure how much I’ll be able to blog over the next 6 weeks. The sproggos are off school for the summer so free blogging time will be at a premium but I’ll do my upmost.
In the words of Rob Flynn……
Cheers fuckers!
