Skip Bo

Earlier this evening some of the Dawson clan engaged in the tradition started by Nanna that is called Skip Bo.

Nanna discovered this came when a friend of hers brought her a deck back after visiting family in Canada and she was the grandmaster of the game as far as I’m concerned.
It’s one of those games that is simple to  play, with a few basic rules, but, to use a cliche, really hard to master.

I recomend it to anyone who enjoys a good game of pretty much anything. (Obviously you can get the decks at amazon and other web places but the only shop that I’ve seen them in is Borders).

Back to tonights game, despite a valient attempt by Su, Morgan & Grandma and myself Owen & Ceris somehow managed to fluke a win.

This not over….

Progress

Last post I mentioned my OCD group therapy and how it was helping me, this is a continuation of that thread as it were.

The group is going well. At first it seemed to be a slow starter but now every session they are giving me the tools to use in getting on top of this. The daft thing is that, at times, it all seems so obvious. They’ll tell you something that, when you hear it, seems to be something that you’ve always known and just forgot it.

I read somewhere this week that we can all see the flaws and truths of other people but the only way to know the truthes about yourself is to have another tell you, and I think that’s right.

I have, for a long time, had a low level of self esteem and self confidence, and it’s only since beginning to work on my OCD (prior to starting the group) that I realise that the things I see in other people that I praise and encourage in them, are in me. There’s alot to be said for modesty, and I hate bigheaded egotists, but you should give yourself the credit you deserve.
