This link is to a news article on the BBC.

It relates to mediums/psychics/spiritualist that charge for their services (and this could include voluntary contributions). Now I’ve nothing against protecting someone from fraud (and we all know that there are plenty of people in this world who take advantage of people), but at the end of the day if you choose to go to a medium and you agree to pay what they are asking then that’s you’re choice, most people would approach such a thing accepting that there is a chance that the result may not be what they are hoping for.

And anyway, how can you prove something that is an article of faith?
Now I cannot speak for psychics&mediums because I am not one, but as a rune reader (of sorts) I know that this sort of thing can sometimes be hit and miss – for some people a reading brings seemingly brings up nothing.

They wouldn’t ask a Priest to prove that God existed, they wouldn’t ask the Pope to prove he could commune with God, they would not question an Iman over the existence of Allah and they should not question other people over the validity of their belief.

What really worries me is that, effectively, what the government are doing is saying “here are the belief systems that we condone and here are the ones we don’t”.
This is a step towards having a state sponsored religion that does not allow legitimacy of alternative view points, which is something that we really do not need.

Another’s good news.

A week ago a friend of mine from St. Andrews called Saleem had some exceptionally good news.
Saleem and his family were appealing against being deported and, in the opinion of the specialist lawyer that they had working for them, they stood very little chance of winning.
Now Saleem and his family are devout Christians (he has had threats made against him that if he ever returns to his village in Pakistan he will be killed for not being a muslim) and has, through out the whole process (despite many setbacks), always had a smile on his face and insisted the God would sort it and everything would be ok.
Low and behold a week ago today they found out they had won the right to stay in this country, Saleems wife could continue her vocation as a nurse and they were finally free of the death sentance that had been hanging over Saleem.

Proof that God exists?
Certainly one to ponder.
