World Cup 2011 – The Draw.

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

So on Monday the draw was announced for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

What I want to know is how much England paid to have their ball kept in the fridge long enough so that they didn’t get a group containing one of “the big 3″?!?!?!

I know that right now Martin Johnson’s team are in a bit of a mess (great, isn’t it?!?!) but in three years time I would have thought that he will have shaped them into a side that can handle Chris Pattersons kicking boots, 2 qualifing cannon fodder teams and probably post atleast a respectable performance against Argentina to finish 2nd in the group. Why didn’t the IRB just seed them straight into the next round?!?

The mighty Cymru on the other hand get handed a group containing South Africa and Fiji (now I know that the Fiji XV side is not as good as th VII’s side but they are one of our bogey sides)! Then again, we ran the boks mighty close last month and with our heads screwed on (courtesy of that lovely New Zealender and that bloke from Wigan) correctly we can live with the Fijians.

My point is this, they keeps the “big 3″ seperate, and then wonder why the semi’s always end up looking the same every time (though not last time – good on the Pumas). England now seem to be getting preferential treatment as a former winning nation and Wales, Ireland and Scotland are left to fend for themselves.

But sod it, I reckon Wales are due. Over the last 8 years no nation has improved as much as we have and with that special something we have at the moment the World Cup can’t come quick enough.  Shane Williams to score the winning try in the final? I wouldn’t bet against it!

CYMRU AM BYTH!
